Still here. Really.

A few months back I took a nosedive into rebuilding a much larger site. It's nearly finished and hopefully I'll have a large chunk of uninterrupted time to do all the chores that are involved to get the new version up and running. It feels like it's taken forever, and perhaps it has taken longer than it should. I've spent too much time dinking around, changing this or that and sometimes starting over from scratch. But all that is behind me and I need to forget about it.

Work is good. I've been at my current job 1 year now, and more than half of that time on the graveyard shift. I think I'll stick with this job for a long time to come.

My Danny is fine too. He is always the one around here who can never find anything and can lose something within five minutes of having it in his hands. I am constantly called on to find things that I've never laid my eyes on until he loses them. Fun huh?

We took a vacation a few weeks ago. It's been quite a few years since I've actually gone anywhere during my vacation time but this was a special occasion - his Mom had her 80th birthday! What a time we had celebrating! I can't remember when I've eaten out so many times in one week. It was all good, and despite the weight that I gained I survived all the fun.

Be good to yourselves. Not sure when the next time will be that I'll get to update this.

Think they would learn?

Heh. Comment spammers are still out there and they're still trying to get past my set-up to have their junk comments added. You'd think they could find something actually productive to do with all the time that they're wasting. They really need to get a life, play with their X-Box, ride their bike, play ball or do something really useful - like getting an education.

Comment Preview Problem

There is currently a problem with the comment preview template. Nothing to really be concerned over, it just displays the comment in the wrong column. Something I can fix later when I feel bright enough to wrap my head around it.

Bottom line --> it works just fine but simply looks odd.

Some Progress

Tonight I actually made a bit of progress working on the template. More to do as the 'category' template hasn't been touched yet. Simply out of time and must prepare to leave for work. Perhaps tomorrow, or at least in the coming days while I'm on a roll.

Just over one hour to go before I'm another year older...

Not up to this

My mind is just not up to working on this right now. I seem to have acquired a headache.

I did get the right column to go to the far right side. I did find out a bit more about customizing the menus, just haven't done that yet.

Break

I have taken the first steps toward getting the stock template to be more to my liking. There is still much more to be done, but one needs to take a break in the midst of the process. Yup, both side columns have the same stuff in them with the only difference being their width.

What I've done:
1. Widened the template - it looked too squished even with only two columns.
2. Added a new column, the one on the left. Had to make quite a few adjustments here but the tutorial at Learning Movable Type got me started on the right foot.
3. Widened the banner to 100%.

Naturally, there are more adjustments to be done. It is far from finished. The right column falls below the content area if the screen is restored down. The padding needs to be reduced, and the columns narrowed. Perhaps the entire content area should again be widened. The outside borders are just filler material afterall.

Returning

I have moved back to Movable Type. I missed it. I missed it a lot.

I've got work to do around here, but I feel like I'm back in familiar territory. Movable Type has changed quite a bit since I last used it, and it looks like there have been a lot of improvements. I'm starting here with the stock template and that is probably where I'll start to make some changes. It is rather bland.
